Elf (novel) on the Shelf!

My friend Anna from my American Night Writers group has been “bitten by the J.R.R. Tolkien fantasy-bug,” she says, and is on an elf novel kick. Her sixth elf novel in just five years is now in print and e-book and ready to read, all you fantasy fans! I’m pretty sure I’m not alone when I admit that back in the day I thought that Tolkien elf Legolas was pretty darn appealing. Go elfs!

And now, Anna del C. Dye (love her name!) has continued with all this elfin magic and created her latest installment, A Royal Elf of Albalon. It’s an epic tale of the clash between an elfin kingdom and a mankind kingdom. It’s got some of my favorite elements in a story: political intrigue and romance. (Those are the things I adore about reading all those Anthony Trollope novels, the series about the Plantagenets, detailing 1850s politics laced with multiple romance plots. Yes!)

Here’s the blurb from A Royal Elf:

Not everything that looks royal is…

The deep relationship between Amaria, princess of Abalon, and Marken, the chancellor’s son, comes to a halting stop after their kingdom is almost annihilated. However, death isn’t the only thing this battle brings. Elfs come to their rescue and, as a souvenir, take the princess home with them.

Blinded by fury, the overprotecting queen orders the extermination of the mighty elfs. Her captains know they can never win, so the captains are pleased when Amaria intervenes so desperately that she loses her mother. The unprepared princess is left with a kingdom that will demand her true love.

For fun I’ll throw in part of the review of A Royal Elf by Cindy Bennett, author of Geek Girl:

“…a wonderful epic fantasy with a strong heroine who has much to be admired about her. The story sweeps you in and every time you think you know what is going to happen, Dye takes the story in a new direction to keep you guessing. …full of all the things that make a book great: forbidden love, intrigue, secrets, wars, elves, orcs…there is more than enough to grab any reader’s interest and hold it until the end.”

If you love all things “elf,” this is your book! It’s available for purchase at  http://aroyalelfofabalon.blogspot.com/p/purchase-information.html And if you want to follow Anna everywhere else, find out what her elfs are up to, take a peek into her elfin mind, you can keep up with her here: http://www.annadelc.com or on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/ARoyalElfofAbalon or on Twitter at http://ning.it/JBNMpG
