First was the middle school, then the elementary school. Sunday night was the community\u2019s presentation of \u201cThe Messiah\u201d\u2014which we go to every year and which, I think, had the best solos this time\u2014and next week will be the high school. Love them!\u00a0<br><br>Well, mostly. Isn\u2019t there always that\u00a0<em>one song\u2026<\/em>?\u00a0<br><br>Yesterday on Facebook, one of my friends asked, \u201cIf you could make a wish and one Christmas song would disappear forever, which one would go?\u201d\u00a0<br><br>He received a variety of answers\u2014and strong opinions.\u00a0Apparently our middle school choir teacher has a similar strong opinion. Or at least a great sense of humor.\u00a0The girls\u2019 quartet began a well-known song. It hailed from what I term \u201cthe greed collection\u201d of Christmas songs. Each sweet girl held a stuffed animal of a hippo, and the music launched. I heard a collective groan rise from my section of the auditorium.\u00a0<br><br>But\u2014mercy prevailed! About ten bars in, the music stopped, the girls\u00a0<em>threw\u00a0<\/em>their hippos under the piano. New music began, and the girls sang a song from what I term the \u201cChristmas romance collection.\u201d <br><br>We were delivered! The audience went wild.
