So, I’m no designer. In college I majored in English with an emphasis in Technical Writing, and I was a studious girl. My worst grades, however, came from my design classes. Ugh! How anyone does graphic design or even artistic layouts is beyond me. I even hate decorating my living room. We’d lived in our house almost three years before I hung a single picture, and they haven’t relocated in the eight years since.
Trying to make this webpage look okay is another task that’s just beyond me. I’m messing around with the header and the background color, and it’s … I don’t know, lame no matter what I do. The picture I took of the flowers in my yard clashed with no matter what else I put on the site, so much as I was kinda proud of myself for finally taking a photo that wasn’t blurry, it had to go.
But this aurora borealis picture I love. It came from a family facebook page I am on with my Norwegian cousins. My grandmother’s older siblings were born in Norway on THIS island–well the island where this picture was taken. As little children my great aunts and uncles could have seen this very view. When I see this photo (and others my cousins post) I’m just floored by how beautiful it is, and I wonder why they traded it for the desert valleys of the American West. Well, I know why they did, and I’m so very grateful for the sacrifices and choices they made, but the view! They left this amazing landscape!
I guess I’ll leave this header, if only to please myself for a while. Someday I’ll either figure out how to tweak this website into shape, or else I’ll have to hire a person with more talent than I have. (Not hard to come by, no doubt!)
